What's being built on Aragon OSx?
We are already seeing lots of cool applications of Aragon OSx across the web3 ecosystem. Let’s dive into these three EthDenver bounty winners to explore some of the cool apps and tools being built on Aragon OSx!
Missio: streamlining DAO decision-making with AI
Missio is an AI-enabled data and engagement solution that helps DAOs improve decision-making.
“Missio streamlines proposals and surveys users, optimizing the democratic decision-making process and creating a more engaged and effective DAO community, while also creating the first ever true qualitative DAO contributor metrics system,” said Oisin, CEO of Missio. “With Missio, DAOs can unlock their full potential and pave the way for a more democratic and effective future.”
Oisin is no stranger to DAO operations and the struggles DAOs face day to day. He is also the co-founder of CityDAO and works in Operations for NFT platform VRYNT. “DAOs have the potential to revolutionize the way we govern communities, but the path to effective management and growth of these communities is riddled with obstacles,” he said. Missio’s innovative solutions can help solve this.
Missio helps DAOs make more effective decisions in four ways:
Information summarization: DAO members can input proposals into Missio, which runs it through GPT-4 and outputs a summary and a set of key questions related to the proposal, which are intended to provoke rich conversation and better decision-making.
DAO surveying: Missio uses GPT-4 to create meaningful survey questions to get a better sense of DAO members’ opinions on a topic.
DAO data visualization: Data visualization to help DAO members better understand their organization, with data based on DAO proposals and other input sources.
DAO reputation and incentives: DAO members earn reputation points for actions such as participating in surveys, submitting feedback, and providing annotations on other DAO member’s responses.
“We see Missio being part of every DAO’s daily stack,” said Oisin. “DAOs can use Missio to improve governance and engagement and contributors can use Missio to more easily engage and understand their DAO while also earning credibility and reputation through our qualitative metrics.”
Missio is straddling two rapidly developing areas of technology: web3 and AI. Oisin said this was a challenge at times.
“Every day something new is coming out that allows us to accelerate and build a better product, but keeping up with everything and building at the same time is not an easy task,” he said.
Even though building at the intersection of web3 and AI is a challenge, the team is already doing impressive work. They have a working product and a sleek website to match. We can’t wait to see what they do next!

Randomocracy: system of governance with a random sample of representatives
We tasked builders with coming up with a plugin that would allow DAOs to use a unique type of governance.
The winning team built Randomocracy, which is a soon-to-be-built OSx plugin that uses a governance method where a representative is chosen at random to make the decision for the organization.
This method of decision-making, sometimes called Sortition or lottocracy, was popular in ancient Greece. It helps prevent factions from forming and removes bias and potential for bribery from elections, often resulting in more fair decisions. Sortition has been used in many modern cases, including British Columbia’s Citizen’s Assembly that helped reform elections, Ireland’s Jury of Peers that legalized abortion, the UK’s Citizen's Assembly that set climate policy, and France’s Citizen’s Convention for Climate that made efforts to set standards for lower emissions.
“Randomocracy, a system of governance by random representatives, trusts that every individual can think critically and make decisions for the collective benefit,” wrote Meli, cocreator of the Randomocracy project. “It allows everyone to share a perspective on every issue to help inform the decisions of the random representatives. The idea of randomocracy is not new, but its implementation is a new possibility because of blockchain technology.”
Here’s how it works:
Any DAO member can submit a proposal, which then opens an anonymous forum that DAO members can discuss in for a set period of time. When that period ends, a sample size of anonymous DAO members are chosen to make the decision on behalf of the organization. The sample size is scaled to the size of the DAO. If a DAO member is chosen to vote but does not respond, another member is randomly chosen to fill their place. All the representatives vote, and if pass rate is met, the proposal passes.
Participation rewards are then distributed to DAO members who voted, and consensus rewards are distributed to those who voted for the winning option. This helps incentivize further participation in future random selections.
The team is currently working on implementing Randomocracy as an Aragon OSx plugin, so DAOs built on Aragon will be able to use this unique decision-making method soon!

DAyOri: notification system for DAOs
It can be hard to keep up with everything happening in your DAO, especially voting. DAyOri solves this by monitoring the data emitting from your DAO’s contract and notifying you by email when an action occurs. For example, you could get notified whenever a new proposal goes up to vote onchain, or when funds are sent out of the treasury. This helps DAO members have better visibility on what’s happening in their organization through simple automated messaging.
Here’s how it works:
DAyOri monitors all events data emitted from the registered DAO contract. Then, that data is translated to human readable language and sent via email to the DAO members who signed up for notifications. DAO members can opt into this messaging service and customize it to fit their precise needs.
“DAyOri” means “letters” in Japanese.
They support Aragon OSx and OpenZeppelin DAOs. Currently, they only support the Goerli network, but they plan to introduce more chains soon. Check back for deployment on mainnet!
