New LockToVote Governance Plugin Release with Aragon App UX Upgrades

September and October marked a period of rapid growth for Aragon’s modular governance stack, expanding what’s possible for web3 projects managing capital, permissions, and protocol contracts fully onchain.

Over the past two months, the Aragon team shipped major upgrades designed to make governance simpler, safer, and more composable: from the launch of the LockToVote plugin, to new Tenderly simulation tools and infrastructure updates that strengthen compliance and automation.

Here’s everything new and next across the Aragon ecosystem.

UX Upgrades, New Features, and Tools in the Aragon App

The Aragon App received a series of refinements throughout September and October, all aimed at improving usability and onchain decision-making.

LockToVote: Voting With Any ERC-20

With the new LockToVote plugin, DAOs can now enable governance with any ERC-20 token, letting members lock tokens only when they vote. While locked, tokens become non-transferable to prevent double-voting; once unlocked, voting power resets to zero and tokens return to normal use. This “lock-on-demand” model is especially powerful for Guardian-style DAOs and oversight bodies. This allows participants to keep assets productive in DeFi, then lock briefly to participate in governance decisions.

Tenderly Simulation: Safer Proposals and Smarter Governance

Building on transparency and control, the new Tenderly Simulation integration lets proposal creators simulate transactions directly in the app. Teams and communities can preview outcomes, identify issues before execution, and gain an extra layer of security and confidence in onchain decision-making. The feature is available both during proposal creation (for verifying custom actions before submission) and from existing proposal pages for ongoing validation.

SafeOwnerCondition: Seamless Multisig Governance

A new SafeOwnerCondition now allows multisig owners to create proposals directly within advanced or staged governance processes. This eliminates redundant signatures and makes safe integration smoother in complex DAO setups, improving workflow efficiency and flexibility for builders.

UX Enhancements Across the Aragon App

We’ve implemented several visual and navigational improvements to help DAOs with complex governance structures operate more smoothly. From improved readability in multi-process designs to better interface responsiveness, these updates streamline the end-to-end user experience for DAO builders.

Strengthening Core Services with Modularity and Compliance

Aragon has rolled out new API endpoints for generating Merkle trees and proofs within the Capital Distributor plugin. These tools make it easier to run airdrops, rewards, and token distributions, such as the recent Boundless DAO airdrop we supported.

Projects can now gate token claims using OFAC compliance lists or country-level geofencing, giving DAOs the ability to meet global regulatory requirements while preserving decentralization.

These upgrades move Aragon closer to its vision of modular, compliant, and transparent onchain governance, a foundation for the next generation of DAOs.

What’s Next: Automating Capital Flows

Next up, the Aragon team is focusing on automation to enable DAOs to set up recurring payments, contributor rewards, and programmatic airdrops, all governed by the same permission-based governance flows introduced earlier this year.

Together, LockToVote, Tenderly Simulation, and our modular governance architecture are shaping Aragon into an open, secure, and composable coordination stack for onchain organizations. Each release removes friction and strengthens resilience, bringing us closer to a future where DAOs can govern, distribute capital, and evolve entirely onchain.
