Introducing Kim Exchange's Governance
Kim implemented a vote escrow (ve) and gauges governance model. This approach ensures aligned incentives, reduces coordination overhead, and accelerates network growth.
We are thrilled that Kim Exchange is extending the Governance Games on Mode, by introducing fractal gauges that further distribute rewards to liquidity pools on their protocol.
Kim is a decentralized exchange (DEX) on Mode that leverages a mathematical formula to price assets, enabling seamless trading without the need for a traditional order book. Kim is built as an efficient and modular protocol, allowing both builders and users to leverage their custom infrastructure for deep, sustainable, and adaptable liquidity.
How Kim Exchange’s Governance Fosters Ecosystem Alignment
Similar to Mode’s governance, Kim implemented a vote escrow (ve) and gauges governance model. This approach ensures aligned incentives, reduces coordination overhead, and accelerates network growth.
Kim’s ve and gauges governance not only aligns incentives among stakeholders on its protocol, but contributes to broader incentive alignment across the Mode ecosystem:
- Fractal Gauges: The Mode gauges distribute funding across the Mode ecosystem and connect directly to the Kim gauges, which then allocate resources to specific liquidity pools (LPs).
- User-First Approach: MODE tokenholders who vote for Kim in the Mode gauges receive KIM tokens, immersing them in the Kim community and its similar governance system.
- Reduced Governance Overhead: KIM holders allocate their voting power via gauges, removing the need to continuously vote to pass proposals.

Leveraging the Network Effects of Aragon OSx
With Aragon OSx, new governance models are modularized into plugins, allowing protocols to easily and securely adapt their governance strategies over time. Once published, these plugins can be adopted by any DAO via the Aragon OSx plugin repository, fostering an interoperable governance ecosystem across Ethereum.
Kim leveraged Mode’s governance plugin to deploy their DAO, benefiting from the modularity and network effects of Aragon OSx.
The KIM Governance Hub
The KIM community now has a dedicated hub to actively participate in governance and shape the growth of the protocol’s ecosystem.
This comprehensive UI consolidates all governance-related activities, from staking to engaging with gauges, ensuring:
- Unified Experience: A consistent interface aligned with Kim’s branding for an intuitive user experience.
- Streamlined Participation: Users no longer need to navigate multiple governance platforms.
- Seamless Integration: A cohesive experience that unites branding, products, and governance systems.
Built using our Governance App Template, the Governance Hub allows projects to easily deploy a customized interface tailored to their governance contracts. This includes all necessary features, workflows, and information for user participation.
